The KSPA College Prep Experience

An open-enrollment, free public charter school for students in grades 5 to 8, KSPA offers an academically rigorous, college preparatory curriculum. In addition to extra learning time—amounting to 67% more than in traditional school settings—KSPA students benefit from an outstanding nutrition and fitness program, engagement in community service, leadership training, and participation in a band that has become a pillar of pride for the entire school.

The process for enrollment at KSPA is one of self-selection. Students are not screened based on past behavior or academic success: the only requirement for admittance is a commitment from the student and his or her parents to work hard and adhere to the Commitment to Excellence agreement.

KSPA’s goals for future college success focus on three components: academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits. Students in each grade focus on one character trait per year to help them develop into successful adult citizens.
